Pre-Hispanic Metallurgy

Pre-Hispanic Metallurgy

Metallurgy was discovered and developed independently in different parts of the world and at different times. The knowledge reached the territory today known as Colombia 2,500 years ago from the Peruvian Andes, where it was discovered four thousand years ago. Because of their hardness, or their shine and colour, metals came to occupy an important place in every society where they were worked, and there can be no doubt that they have helped forge our own society.
